Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette Review

For my first post back from quite the little hiatus, I wanted to talk about a palette I am so very excited for.  The Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette, is the perfect splurge worthy gift for any makeup collector in your life.

This palette comes in a beautiful, old-school album style case that is a nightmare for traveling, but amazing displayed on your vanity.  Included in this palette are 24 eye shadows that range from the most basic neutrals to the craziest of bold colors.  The center of the color wheel has 7 neutral shades, surrounded by 17 more bolder, brighter colors.

You will be able to see in some of the swatches below, but a few of the shadows look gorgeous in the palette, but come off super patchy and not very pigmented.  For example Echo, which looks like a bright, shimmery purple, but when applied to the skin it is very light and all the glitter flaked off and didn't stick.  Other than the few shadows that disappoint, the rest of the shadows feel amazing.  They are buttery and smooth, and look great on the skin.  My personal favorites are Lemmy, Harpsichord, Rewind, and Noble.

Neutral Shades (L-R): Moulder, Vox, Strutter, Lyric, Black Metal, Skulls, Noble

(L-R): Lemmy, Misfit, Vinyl, Legend, Tran, Analogue, Harpsichord

(L-R): Rewind, Destroyer, Swoon, Löve, Muse, Echo, Dark Wave, Synth, Hyperballad

From a makeup collectors perspective, I vote go buy this palette like yesterday.  It's so big and beautiful.  However, from a practical point of view, it's a bit iffy for me.  Some shadows are incredibly smooth and pigmented, and some are patchy and don't stick to the skin.  And I feel like for $59, all the colors should be amazing.  Also, I'm sure not many people would get use out of the electric pink or blue eye shadows, so it is a little overboard for anyone who only likes neutral eye looks.

Final Verdict - Overall, I would say if you are gifting for a makeup lover and collector, this is a great gift.  But if you are buying for the minimal makeup wearing newbie, maybe skip this palette and get something with a bit more neutral colors.
