Nars One Shocking Moment Cheek Palette Review

Talk about all-in-one.  This new palette from Nars in collaboration with Steven Klein is AMAZING.  It has everything you need for a full face of makeup in one sleek package.

This set contains a highlighting and contouring duo in Paloma (I) and Paloma (II).  These are amazing shades that will work on lighter to medium skin tones.  They blend beautifully into the skin and can be built up to create a stark contour, or slightly applied for more natural shading.

The bronzer in this set is the holy grail Laguna bronzer.  This is one of the most popular brozners, probably ever.  It is a gorgeous brown shade with subtle golden shimmer, that doesn't come off too crazy, but more like I just returned from my California vacation and look how glowy and amazing my skin is.  When really I just spent the last 4 hours watching Netflix and online shopping before I got ready.  The best part is that this bronzer is FULL SIZE!  If you were to pick this up alone in store, it would run you $39.

Top Row (L-R): Paloma (I), Paloma (II), Laguna

The bottom row of this palette are 4 blushes in a wide range of shades.  Similarly to the bronzer, these blushes are almost full size!  These are each 0.12 oz. whereas a $30 full size is 0.16 oz.  That means that one of these blushes would cost about $22.50, and $90 for all 4!  The shades included are:

  • Robotic - This is a light cool toned pink shade with a bit of shimmer, but appears almost matte on the skin.  I believe that this shade is either only available in this palette, or at least not available as a single blush in their permanent collection.
  • Blasphemy - A more rosey-pink shade than Robotic with a satiny finish.  As with the previous shade, I think this might be only available in this palette.
  • Luster - This is a gorgeous medium orange toned blush with gold shimmer.  This shade is great for getting into more of the coral/orange shades of blush.  It can be applied lightly for more of a subtle pop of color.  This is available in their permanent blush collection
  • Dolce Vita - This blush is the perfect reddish dusty rose shade.  I have the lipstick equivalent in the same shade and it is the perfect everyday color.  I am hoping that this blush is the same, and with the gold reflects in it, and will become my go to everyday blush.

Blushes (L-R): Robotic, Blasphemy, Luster, Dolce Vita

Final Verdict - This palette gets 2 big thumbs all the way up.  Everyone needs this palette, from the beginner that needs everything to contour their face in one easy palette, to the makeup hoarder who has to collect all of the limited edition palettes.  Bonus, this palette is amazing for traveling, it has everything you need in a sturdy plastic case.  The only downside is the price, at $69 it is one of the more expensive holiday sets I have purchased this year, but considering that the bronzer is full size and the blushes are darn close to full size, it is totally worth every penny.
