2014 Favorites - Beauty

My makeup collection probably doubled this year.  This is partly due to my general obsession with makeup, but partly because of this blog.  I always get excited when new products are released, because I feel the need to buy one of every color to try out and review.  Although I have a ton of favorite products and could probably go on forever, so I have narrowed it down to the products I found myself reaching for almost everyday.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream

I have mentioned this is previous blog posts in my favorites for traveling and surviving a sick day.  I have used up one of these BB creams in 2014, and I anticipate finishing up my second tube pretty quickly.  This is just the perfect BB Cream.  I have tried plenty of expensive high end BB creams, and although they are amazing, nothing seems to beat the $12 Garnier BB Cream.  I use the one for oily skin, even though I have dry skin, because I heard terrible reviews for the normal to dry version. So far, I haven't noticed that this has dried me out like most products for oily skin have in the past.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

This foundation was mentioned in a past monthly favorite, and is what I have worn in almost any photo featured on my blog.  I love how lightweight and blendable this formula is, while still giving amazing and flawless coverage. I have found that this foundation can range anywhere from light to full coverage, and doesn't look or feel cakey. I like using either a damp makeup sponge or a flat top foundation brush to apply this.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

I discovered this product a bit later in 2014, but it quickly became my go-to concealer. I use the shade Light 2 - Vanilla, and it is the prlerfect color for under my eyes.  It is light enough that it blends beautifully and doesn't crease, but has enough coverage that it easily hides my dark under eye circles.

Beauty Blender Original + Micro Mini

I have tried different brands of makeup sponges in the past, and although I never hated any of them, I didn't really love them either. That was until I broke down and bought the original beauty blender. This little pink egg shaped sponge is the perfect texture to apply foundation seamlessly.  I don't feel like it absorbs too much product, and it blends foundation and concealer to a flawless finish. Since I loved the original so much I thought I would give the lime green micro mini size a go as well. I love how tiny it is and it definitely is great for applying concealer or a contour. I love these so much that I have already bought some extras so that I will never run out!

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eye Shadow

I have mentioned these eye shadows in a monthly favorites post, I have recommended these to friends, and I have given these as gifts. These, in my opinion, are the best cream/liquid eye shadows I have ever tried. Despite almost losing an arm from having to shake them so much, these are super easy to apply and last forever. I will admit, that on occasion, I have fallen asleep with my makeup on and when I wake up this eye shadow will still look perfect. I have the pink and rose gold shades, but they also come in some amazing purple and green shades.

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows

These shadows from Make Up For Ever are beyond amazing!  They are so pigmented and blend easily. I especially like the shimmery and glittery shades, because they add some sparkle with out getting chunky glitter everywhere.  As you can see from the pictures below, I chose most of the shades in the same mauve/pink range, and then one gorgeous green.  They have literally any color you can imagine, and I can't wait to expand my collection and pick up some more bold colors.

Lorac PRO Palette

This palette has been a staple product in my makeup collection.  It has been featured in makeup tutorials, the perfect palette tag, and was listed as one of my travel essentials.  I could probably list this palette as a favorite every month.   I find that no matter what color eye look I am creating, I always seem to use at least one shade from the PRO palette.  The colors are so versatile and can create a simple neutral look, or a more bold and shimmery look.  I would (and have) recommend this palette to anyone who wants to get more into makeup.  It is literally the perfect palette.

IT Cosmetics Tightline Primer + Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara

My two favorite mascaras of the year are the IT Cosmetics Tightline Mascara Primer and the Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara.  These two products are beautiful on their own, but together they are amazing.  The Tightline is technically a primer, but I have often used it on its own.  It has the smallest, tiniest brush that allows you to really get down the root of your lashes.  This helps to make you lashes look longer and fuller.  It also works great as a lower lash mascara.  The small brush makes it super easy without the risk of getting mascara everywhere.  I love Benefit's BADgal Lash Mascara because it is just a great standard, everyday mascara.  It has a big, thick brush that adds tons of volume, with out going clumpy.

Two Faced Melted Liquefied Long Wear Lipsticks

I think the fact that I have bought 4 different colors of this lipstick in the last year, can speak to how much I love these lipsticks.  They are very long lasting, and come in a ton of gorgeous colors!  They just released a bunch of new colors, so you know that my collection will be growing even more in 2015.   I love that there are lots of neutral shades, as well as some more bold colors.  I currently have (L to R) Melted Coral, Melted Fig, Melted Peony, and Melted Violet.

Like I said before, these are just a few of my favorite and most used products.  I can't wait to see what new and exciting products are to come in 2015!
