Kat Von D Star Studded Palette - Holidays 2014

This was my first palette from Kat Von D, I bought a mini palette quite a while ago but never really got around to using it.  So when this palette came out I was super excited to try it!  This palette has 24 eye shadows, organized into sets of 4 coordinating colors.

This packaging is very pretty, I just wish it had a better closure.  I am afraid to travel with it since it doesn't securely close and I'm worried the shadows would get damaged.

The different shadow combinations range from neutral to bold to smokey.  There are a great mix of shimmer and matte shades, and most of them are very silky and pigmented, with the exception of the glittery purple shade, Gothica.  It is very chunky and chalky and has no pigment whatsoever.  Lots of the reviews I have read have had the same problem with that purple color, but other than that one color I love this palette.

Top Row (L to R): Solar, Nephilim,Damned, and Division,

Second Row (L to R):Platonic, Mandala, Depeche, and Brass Knuckles

Third Row (L to R): Anti-Star, Estrella, Banshee, and Violator

Fourth Row (L to R): Black Star, Starflyer, Gothica, and Fascination Street

Fifth Row (L to R): Moz, Heaven Knows, Crosses, and Covenant

Sixth Row (L to R): Smiths, Leather, Craft, and Cult

Overall, I like this palette.  I like that there are coordinating shades, but there are enough neutrals that you can create your own looks.  I think that for $55 you can find some better palettes that come with some extras, but for the makeup collector like myself this is a fun palette to have!
