August Favorites

August was a whirlwind month with plenty of travel and lots of new products to try out.  And of course the one weekend I was actually at home, happened to be the weekend that Sephora had a VIB Rouge event.  I am not one to pass up 4 times the points and an exclusive shopping event.  I was able to pick up a couple products that I have had on my wishlist, and a few that I didn't know I needed until I was in the store.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation + Brush

Ever since it was released, I have had my eye on the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation.  I have had this foundation for a couple weeks now, and I am in love.  It applies beautifully in general, but when used with the Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush it becomes even more amazing.  It seems to blend into the skin nicely without feeling or looking heavy.  My only complaint is that the formula seems to be a bit watery, but I guess that is to be expected with such a lightweight formula.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eye Shadow - "Rio De Rose Gold"

I bought this eye shadow because I had heard a couple other beauty bloggers rave about how amazing it was. When I finally got my hands on it I understand why there were such good reviews. This is such a unique formula, it is a bit intimidating at first because it is a very watery consistency, but the applicator makes it very easy to apply.  With this product a little bit goes a very long way, and it is totally build able so you can either give a light wash of color or build it up to be a full on metallic eye. I can't wait to get my hands on some of the other colors in the line.

Real Techniques Powder Brush

This has been my goto bronzer brush all summer.  This summer I have swapped a defined contoured looked for an all over sun kissed glow, and this brush is large and fluffy which makes it easy to apply color without going overboard.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in 'Beige' & NARS Lip Gloss in 'Turkish Delight'

Because of my crazy travel schedule and my need for my daily beauty routine to be as simple as possible, I have been forgoing the lipstick and relying on my favorite lip glosses.  NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in 'Beige' has been a long time favorite of mine.  Despite the fact that this is called 'Beige', it is actually the perfect neutral pink shade.  This gloss is very opaque and gives lots of color and shine without being terribly sticky.  The NARS Lip Gloss in 'Turkish Delight' is a recent addition to my makeup bag, thanks to one of my friends.  I like this product, because of how versatile it is.  It can be used alone to give a touch of shine, or can be mixed with your favorite pink lipstick to give your lips a little extra oomph.

My Family & Friends ♡

My last August favorite is a little sentimental. I have been fortunate enough to spend every weekend in August with people I love. Some highlights include spending a weekend in Lake Placid with my college bestie, reuniting with high school friends, going to the wedding of 2 amazing people, hanging out with my favorite little cousins, a weekend getaway in NYC, and finally a road trip to Saratoga & Lake George with friends.  All in all this was the best possible way to end the summer, and despite my general lack of sleep and insane amounts of laundry I have left to do, I couldn't have asked for a better August.
